About Ryan Moeller
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California
Hi there! I’m Ryan Moeller. I’m a proud father, unabashed nerd and reader, and lover of the outdoors. I’m also a licensed Therapist and private practice owner based in San Jose, California.
One of my biggest passions and curiosities is figuring out how people work and what it takes to facilitate real change at both the intellectual and the gut level. I believe that the ability to recover from challenges such as depression, anxiety, and other forms of emotional turmoil is a distinct set of skills that can be taught. They’ve worked for me, they’ve worked for my clients, and I hope they can work for you.
It took quite a bit for me to get there. I've struggled with low self-esteem, intense self-criticism, all kinds of anxiety, and feelings of inferiority for much of my life. I was an awkward, shy kid and teen, with a tic disorder to boot. After a hefty amount of trial and error, I’ve found a handful of approaches, techniques, and philosophies that work for me. It was a long, arduous process that had way too many dead ends, ineffective therapy, and failed attempts at change.
I am incredibly fortunate that I have turned around my emotional well-being, but it has bugged me that it took this long and was this difficult. I’m an optimizer at heart, and throughout my years as a therapist I have found distinct strategies to help clients get to where they want to be with the fewest detours and obstacles.
I have found that the best way to facilitate transformational change comes from teaching and practicing distinct methods and techniques. This is done in the context of a warm, empathic, and friendly relationship. I am grateful and passionate in helping clients create those “a-ha!” moments, and I hope to do the same with you.
